ACE (Achieve College Education) Full Tuition Scholarship and Peer Mentor Program

ACE Scholarships underwrite 100% of tuition and follow recipients through degree completion. The scholarship is open to undergraduate students who reside in New York State, are within 6 – 30 credits of graduation, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, are enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits, and demonstrate financial need. As part of their award requirements, ACE Scholars mentor newly admitted undergraduate students.

Responding to CUNY SPS Student Association members' interest in highlighting faculty excellence, Tracy L. Meade, former senior associate dean for strategy and innovation at CUNY SPS, established the Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Prize, which acknowledges an adjunct instructor's creative and innovative online teaching practices in undergraduate courses.

Established by Tyerence E. Brown, a two-time graduate of CUNY SPS (BS in Business ’16 and MS in Business Management and Leadership ‘20), who serves as a very active member of the Alumni Engagement Council. The Alumni Legacy Scholarship awards $1,000 based on need to master's degree students who completed their bachelor's degrees at CUNY SPS.

Endowed by Dr. Zeita-Marion Lobley, director of student services, in memory of her late husband, the Bob Martin Memorial Scholarship is open to any student with a 2.5 GPA or higher who is enrolled in a CUNY SPS online bachelor's degree program on a part- or full-time basis, and who is within 30 credits of completing their degree.

CUNY SPS is dedicated to helping its students overcome obstacles to their education. Student(s) experiencing a financial crisis may apply for emergency textbook grant assistance in order to purchase textbooks.

Endowed through the generosity of the Eugene Walters Family Foundation, the Eugene Walters Scholarship is open to any undergraduate student who is enrolled in a CUNY SPS online degree program on a part- or full-time basis. The tuition scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit.

The Finish Line Debt Forgiveness Program has been established to provide eligible undergraduate students with past due balances additional temporary financial assistance so they have an opportunity to get back on track to complete their undergraduate degrees.

This First Generation Student Success Scholarship was established to support incoming or continuing first generation undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at CUNY SPS. First Generation is defined as having parents who have not graduated from an institution of higher learning (associate’s degree or beyond). To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in the semester for which the scholarship is awarded and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Endowed in perpetuity by the generous support of John Mogulescu, founding dean of the CUNY School of Professional Studies, the Founding Dean's Scholarship is open to all applicants enrolled in a CUNY SPS degree program on a part- or full-time basis. Tuition scholarships of $500 for part-time students and $1,500 for full-time students are awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit.

Your support of the Friends of CUNY SPS Fund helps the School provide financial assistance for promising students, recruit and retain expert faculty, and offer unique, vital educational opportunities online and on campus.

Responding to founding dean John Mogulescu’s mission to promote excellence and innovation at CUNY SPS, the CUNY SPS Foundation Board of Directors established the Innovation Prize, which acknowledges a CUNY SPS student, faculty member, or administrator with an innovative idea, program, approach, study, or research that advances the School. One or more prize(s) is awarded annually.

Initiated in 2022 through the generosity of the New-York Historical Society (N-YHS), the New-York Historical Society President's Fellows in Museum Studies Scholarship encourages diversity of students enrolled in the Master of Arts degree in Museum Studies Program at the CUNY School of Professional Studies. Students may receive a tuition only scholarship award for up to 6 credits per semester. The scholarship provides support to students who are from under-represented groups or can demonstrate a commitment to diversity.

Established by a $50,000 grant from the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation, the Newcombe Scholarship for Mature Students seeks to address unmet scholarship needs for undergraduate students, who after returning back to college and studying part-time already may have exhausted their federal student aid. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 transferable credits, have earned a minimum 2.5 GPA from a prior college and/or university, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits. Tuition scholarships of up to $500 are awarded based on financial need.

Established through the generous support of the New York County Health Services Review Organization, Inc. (NYCHSRO), the NYCHSRO Medical Coding Scholarship will support awarded students through their Medical Coding certificate tenure. Provided students remain eligible, the selected scholars will receive $1000 cover their first semester’s tuition, fee coverage for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exams, and tuition coverage for the last four courses in the certificate program.

Established by Dr. Zeita-Marion Lobley, Director of Student Services, in memory of Otilia Abraham. Otilia served as the CUNY SPS Director of Academic Advisement from 2014 - 2023. The purpose of the Otilia Abraham Memorial Scholarship is to assist returning students in completing their undergraduate degree at CUNY School of Professional Studies.

Endowed by the generous support of Patti Lieberman, CUNY SPS Foundation board member, the Patti Lieberman Scholarship for Early Childhood Education provides tuition support to students enrolled in one of two certificate programs offered by CUNY SPS – the Children's Program Administrator Credential of New York State or Child Development Associate Certificate.

The purpose of the Petrie Emergency Grant at CUNY SPS is to provide emergency financial assistance to eligible students who are experiencing hardship which could adversely affect their educational success. The main criteria for a grant are the demonstration of a genuine need and that the capacity for continued study may be in jeopardy due to financial hardship. Applicants must be able to provide documentation supporting the need.

Established by a charitable grant from the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation and supplemented by the ongoing generosity of the broader CUNY SPS community, the School's Petrie Virtual Food Access Initiative ensures that hunger does not affect CUNY SPS students and their families. Funds are distributed based on approval of the applicant's grant application and availability.

The Petrie Nurse Scholars program provides tuition assistance to students enrolled in the CUNY SPS online bachelor's degree in nursing (RN to BSN) who previously earned an applied science (AAS) degree with a major in nursing from a CUNY Community College, underwriting 100% of tuition, and follows recipients through degree completion.

Created in memory of Russell Peterson and endowed in perpetuity by his family, the Russ Peterson Technology Scholars program is open to students pursuing the BS in Information Systems, the BS in Health Information Management, or the MS in Data Science.

Established by the generosity of the Rossen family, the Stephen M. Rossen Memorial Scholarship is open to any student enrolled in a CUNY SPS online degree program on a part- or full-time basis, and who is within 30 credits of degree completion.

Endowed in perpetuity by Tracy L. Meade, former senior associate dean for strategy and innovation at CUNY SPS, , in memory of her late brother, the Timothy Meade Memorial Scholarship is open to undergraduate students enrolled in the CUNY SPS Disability Studies Program with a 2.0 GPA or higher.

Established by the CUNY SPS Foundation, the Military Completion Scholarship aims to provide students with partial financial assistance for their cost of attending college. The scholarship is offered to active and reserve military students using tuition assistance. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be enrolled in 3 credits and maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Endowed in perpetuity by Robert Kissane (BS in Communication and Culture, '09), alumnus and CUNY SPS Foundation board member, in memory of his late brother, the William J. Kissane III Scholarship is open to students who are enrolled in a Disability Studies degree program (BA, MA or MS) at CUNY SPS.

The Youth Studies Scholarship Fund is open to incoming and matriculated graduate students enrolled at CUNY SPS with a 3.0 GPA or higher enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits who are African American, Caribbean American, Latinx, or Asian and/or students with disabilities, or students with a demonstrated commitment or contribution to the educational preparation of African American, Caribbean American, Latinx, or Asian students and/or students with disabilities, in leadership and research in the youth-serving field.
