How to Earn Credit for Non-Collegiate Learning

Non-collegiate learning includes licenses, certifications, and trainings that have been evaluated as college-level learning. These can help fulfill your degree requirements and support your professional development. Evaluations are based on recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE) and the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS).

These credentials span a wide range of fields and are regularly reviewed and updated. To be eligible for credit:

  • Credentials must be active and current.
  • If a credential includes multiple courses, all listed courses must be completed.
  • Note any credentials that must be current or recent

Students with accepted and approved credentials may contact TransferCPL@sps.cuny.edu to have them added to their academic record. Before submitting, please confirm that the credential applies to your degree requirements by reviewing your Degree Works report, speaking with your academic director, or contacting the CPL department at PLA@sps.cuny.edu

For easier navigation, credentials are grouped by field and listed with currently accepted licenses, certifications, and trainings.
