Undergraduate Applicants Educated Outside the U.S.

The CUNY School of Professional Studies offers undergraduate degree programs that provide the opportunity for online and on campus study in a variety of disciplines. While we cannot issue an F-1 visa for a fully online degree program, our online undergraduate offerings provide a chance for international students to earn an affordable degree while residing in their home country. In addition to the admissions criteria, applicants who were educated outside of the United States have two options for the admissions review of their foreign transcripts.

Option One - No Cost Associated

Have the official transcript, in the original language, from each postsecondary school/university attended, and an English translation if the transcript is in a language other than English, sent directly from the postsecondary school/university to admissions@sps.cuny.edu.

If your postsecondary school/university is unable to send an electronic official copy, please have an official transcript (and translation if not originally in English) sent via mail.

Please submit all application documents 8-10 weeks in advance of the application deadline to allow for the additional time needed to verify foreign credentials. Documents should be mailed to the address below

CUNY School of Professional Studies
c/o Admissions Suite 217
119 W 31st St. New York, NY 10001

This option does not have any associated costs. The evaluation will be conducted for free.

Option Two - Cost Associated

Send your documents to one of approved private evaluation services on the list below. Please note that costs may vary. This is a recommended option for an expedited processing time to meet admissions deadlines.

When using a private evaluation agency, please make sure to:

  1. Request a “CUNY Undergraduate Evaluation.”
  2. Ask for an official course-by-course evaluation report which includes a GPA based on all secondary school course work and any external examination certificates earned.
  3. Request that the evaluation service includes certified copies of all documentation used for the evaluation.
