Financial aid is awarded with the assumption that students will attend the classes for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded.
A change in enrollment may result in changes to financial aid eligibility. When a student ceases enrollment in a class, the timing determines not only whether the student is liable for the charges but whether and how much financial aid will apply.
- Dropping courses prior to the start of the term results in no financial aid eligibility and no liability for those courses.
- Dropping courses on or after the start of the term, results in a partial liability, but the financial aid eligibility is dependent on:
- If within the first seven days of the term, student is not eligible for financial aid.
- If after the 7th day, dropping any/all courses may result in a reduction of the aid eligibility.
- See how dropping affects federal and state aid.
- Only classes add by the semester’s census date, or by the 7th day of the term, would count towards financial aid eligibility.
- Withdrawing from courses will result in full liability and aid eligibility may be affected. See how withdrawing affects federal and state aid.
