CIED Mission

The Committee on Institutional Equity and Diversity (CIED) is dedicated to promoting and embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion in the identity of the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS). The Committee aspires to develop and sustain a School-wide culture of belonging in which diversity, equity, and inclusion are integral components that support our continued excellence.

The Committee will engage in a wide range of education and professional development activities to foster a culture of respect where students, faculty, and staff can thrive.

The Committee will:

  • Establish a baseline of the CUNY SPS community’s understanding of the School’s current culture and environment
  • Identify goals and targets relative to the baseline
  • Develop and implement change mechanisms that will advance its mission and accomplish its goals

Adopted by the CIED during the committee meeting on January 21, 2020.

In view of the current racial equity and racial justice movement, the Committee will review its mission statement to ensure that it is reflective and representative of the values of the Committee and CUNY SPS.

The nine faculty and staff were recognized for completing a series of curated LinkedIN Learning courses focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
