The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) Textbook Grant is offered by the CUNY SPS Foundation to support students with textbook costs. If awarded, students will receive a book voucher of up to $200 for use at the school’s bookstore, Akademos. Please note the eligibility requirements below:
Award Amount:
- The award amount is a voucher for Akademos, the CUNY SPS Online Bookstore, of up to $200
- This voucher can only be used towards the required textbook materials as verified through Akademos
- If a course does not require a traditional textbook and instead requires lab materials or an online subscription, grant funds may be applied toward these required items, provided that appropriate documentation is submitted. Documentation must include the course syllabus and an itemized cost breakdown of the required materials.
- This is not a reimbursement program. Students must use the issued voucher to obtain required course materials. Purchases made prior to the issuance of the voucher, or purchases made out of pocket from any vendor, including Akademos, are not eligible for reimbursement, even if the student subsequently receives a voucher.
- The voucher will only cover the cost of textbooks and not shipping costs
Scholarship Criteria:
- Enrolled in a CUNY SPS degree or certificate program
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Undergraduate students cannot apply if they already are in receipt of a Pell book advance
- Enrolled in courses with textbook costs
