Farida Lada

Academic Director, Research Administration and Compliance


Farida is the Associate University Provost for Research Administration and Compliance at The City University of New York (CUNY), where she provides leadership in policy development and operations across all functional areas within CUNY’s Office of Research; participates in strategic planning and development of new research-related initiatives; and leads CUNY’s research administration and compliance programs. Farida initially joined CUNY as its first University Director for Research Compliance, in which role, she established CUNY’s centralized research compliance office, which oversees all areas of research compliance across CUNY’s 25 colleges. Previously, Farida was the Director of Research Compliance at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q), where she established WCMC-Q’s first research compliance program. While in Qatar, she also worked closely with the Qatari Supreme Council of Health in developing the local regulations for protecting human and animal subjects in research. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Director – Human Subject Research at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

Throughout her career, Farida has actively participated in developing and implementing educational initiatives to train all stakeholders in research administration and compliance functions. Farida has also had the honor of speaking at national and international conferences, including the Society of Research Administrators International and National Association of College and University Attorneys. Farida has a PhD in Governance and Policy Analysis from Maastricht University, an MBA from University of Louisville and a BS in Biology from University of Texas at Arlington.

CUNY SPS Launches Online Graduate Research Administration and Compliance Programs

Fall 2018, the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) will launch the first online MS in Research Administration and Compliance degree program in the country. The degree will create a clear and attainable career path for research administration and compliance staff to become competent, highly skilled leaders within these fields in a short period of time.
