Sindy Castro, a 2019 graduate of the CUNY SPS MA in Applied Theatre program, has been elected to the board of the American Alliance of Theatre & Education (AATE) for the 2022-2023 term.

Dr. Kathleen Marsala-Cervasio, an associate professor in the CUNY SPS nursing programs, has published the article "An Integrative Review of the Attitudes of Acute Care Nurses Towards Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities" in the International Journal of Nursing and Health Care Science. Dr. Marsala-Cervasio co-authored the piece with Marie Lourdes Charles, assistant professor at Pace University's Lienhard School of Nursing.

Transformative Learning in the Humanities Faculty Fellows

CUNY Transformative Learning in the Humanities

Three faculty members in the CUNY SPS Communication and Media program have been selected as Andrew W. Mellon Transformative Learning in the Humanities (TLH) Faculty Fellows for the 2022-2023 academic year. Adjunct Assistant Professors Nina Hien and Dino Sossi, along with Assistant Professor and Academic Director Elizabeth Alsop, are among those selected for this cohort. TLH is a three-year initiative to support student-centered pedagogy and foster innovative teaching in the humanities across CUNY.

CUNY BA 2022 Commencement

CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies

Dr. Tara Barca, assistant academic director/doctoral lecturer in the CUNY SPS online business programs, will serve as the faculty speaker at the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies (CUNY BA) program's 2022 commencement ceremony. The event will take place in person at the CUNY Graduate Center on Friday, June 10. Dr. Barca has had the privilege of serving as a CUNY BA faculty mentor since 2021.

Excellence in Youth Studies Teaching Award

CUNY SPS Youth Studies Program

Dr. Elizabeth Bishop, an adjunct faculty member in the Youth Studies program, has been awarded the inaugural CUNY SPS Excellence in Youth Studies Teaching Award. She received this honor for effectively synthesizing theory, source material, and personal experience in her teaching, and for prioritizing student growth and process.
