Dr. Joseph Foy, a professor in the CUNY SPS Business programs, recently co-published an article for the Journal of Forensic Accounting Research with J.V. Sampath, J. A. DiGabriele, and H. Abbu. The paper, "The Effects of Message Quotes on Tax Compliance," examines the effects of regulatory focus and regulatory fit theories on taxpayer compliance when taxpayers are exposed to predetermined quotes by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or other tax authority officials.

Melanie Lorek, assistant professor of Sociology and Human Relations, published a review essay, "Post-Socialist Architecture and Memories in Berlin and Beyond," in the Journal of Urban History.

CUNY SPS MS Business and Leadership alum Sara Yahia (2019) was recently named to the 40 Under 40 list compiled by the Arab America Foundation. Yahia, a member of the CUNY SPS Alumni Engagement Council, is an HR expert and has published several books exploring societal issues.

John Mogulescu, the founding dean of CUNY SPS, retired in 2021 but continues to be busy! Following the 2023 publication of his memoir "The Dean of New Things: Bringing Change to CUNY and New York City," Mogulescu has been speaking to various press outlets about his long and illustrious 50-year career at the City University of New York, which was capped by his work launching CUNY SPS in 2003. This past March, Mogulescu was the guest speaker at a panel discussion hosted at Hunter College’s Roosevelt House as part of its series "Mapping the Future of Higher Ed".

CUNY SPS former Dean John Mogulescu was recently interviewed by host Sheryl McCarthy on the CUNY TV show "One to One." In the interview, Mogulescu reflected upon his long tenure and discussed the explosive growth of CUNY SPS, which, under his leadership, became one of the University’s fastest-growing institutions, pioneering online education and developing innovative programs to serve the needs of working adults and non-traditional students.
