Michael Katzab, a student in the CUNY SPS MA in Psychology program, has been named a Notable 2022 HR Leader by Crain's New York. The magazine highlighted his achievements in a special editorial feature that profiles top HR leaders who have demonstrated the ability or power to affect change. Katzab, who is currently the chief human resources officer at NYC Health + Hospitals, was nominated by his employer.

Dr. Kelly Rabenstein, a licensed psychologist and adjunct faculty member in the CUNY SPS psychology program, has published her first book "Psychological Secrets for Emotional Success (It's All About Love)". The book is filled with the lessons Dr. Rabenstein has gathered to help build better connections at home and at work.

BRESI Grant Awardees

Black, Race and Ethnic Studies Initiative (BRESI)

Youth studies associate professor Dr. Regina Bernard-Carreño has been awarded the CUNY BRESI (Black, Race and Ethnic Studies Initiative) grant. Dr. Bernard-Carreño's proposal, The Podcast & Anthology Project, will bring awareness to difficult conversations of racism and social injustice(s) across the US and the world. The project will bring together experts in the field with members of the public to talk in an open, safe environment about these issues while offering a creative space to reflect upon these conversations.

Discussing Identity, Equity, and Authenticity at Camp

Lance Ozier, EdD, an adjunct professor in the youth studies program, published an article in American Camp Association's publication Camping Magazine entitled, "Discussing Identity, Equity, and Authenticity at Camp." The article provides skills for developing more equitable communities where staff and campers feel included in spaces where they want to belong.

SUNY and CUNY Will Each Receive $2 Million To Support Students Underrepresented in Mental Health Degree Programs

The CUNY School of Professional Studies is highlighted as one of 18 CUNY campuses that will receive federal funding from New York State to support underrepresented students entering or enrolled in mental health degree programs. Under a partnership with the New York State Office of Mental Health, SUNY and CUNY will each be provided $2 million to support tuition assistance, paid internships, and direct stipends for minority and multilingual students.
