John Mogulescu, dean emeritus of the CUNY School of Professional Studies and author of the book “The Dean of New Things: Bringing Change to CUNY and New York City,” shares his story of innovation at CUNY on The Brian Lehrer Show.

In December 2023, students from the CUNY SPS Youth Studies programs participated in Winter Dataland, a citywide event in which the program shares data generated by young people in partnership with YS students and hundreds of other young people in NYC. Patricia Kerrigan, a BA in Youth Studies student, shared her reflections on the evening and the possibilities it offered for youth workers and advocates in the year to come.

CUNY SPS Applied Theatre alum Brielle Silvestre (class of '19) published an article in the November Issue of Theatre Topics Academic Journal entitled, "'It Feels So Real': The Value of Using Elements of Theatre to Rehearse a Profession."

Dr. Keith Weiner, adjunct faculty for the Graduate Nursing Informatics program, published a chapter in the book "Health Informatics: Multidisciplinary Approaches for Current and Future Professionals" last year. Dr. Weiner's chapter titled "Privacy and Security" consists of several true crime capers in which he dissects hacking incidents and delivers a cybersecurity analysis.

CUNY SPS Assistant Professor Elizabeth Alsop published a chapter in the book "ReFocus: The Films of Susan Seidelman." Her chapter examines Seidelman's work on the first season of "Sex and the City," and offers a new framework for understanding women's authorship across film and television.
