William Bernhardt

William “Bill” Bernhardt is an associate professor of English and the director of the Faculty Center for Professional Development at the College of Staten Island, and has been a member of the consortial faculty of the CUNY Online Baccalaureate program since its founding.  He has been teaching in CUNY continuously since 1971, except for almost two years as a visitor at Hebei Teachers University in China during 1981-2. His teaching and publications cover language learning in native and second languages, with particular focus on writing in computer-mediated environments.  He has conducted many workshops and seminars at various academic institutions in Brazil, China, France, Japan, Vietnam and the United States, and is a founding board member of the Bronx Charter School for Better Learning.
