Chanira Rojas, MA is a proud first-generation college graduate and serves as the Academic Program Coordinator for the Youth Studies programs at the CUNY School of Professional Studies, where she also earned her master’s degree. In her role, she advises and supports Youth Studies students, helps to manage the day-to-day operations of the programs, and has taught in the undergraduate Youth Studies program.

With over 14 years of experience in nonprofit management, Chanira has specialized in overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of youth programs. Her work reflects a deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of youth development practitioners and driving impactful change in the field.

Theory, Research, and Action in Urban Education

Two members of the CUNY SPS Youth Studies program, adjunct lecturer Dr. Elizabeth Bishop and academic program coordinator Chanira Rojas, have published articles in Theory, Research, and Action in Urban Education, an online, open-access, peer-reviewed journal hosted by Urban Education @ The CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Bishop offers an introduction to the issue with her essay "(Beyond) Breaking Points: Reclaiming Our Lives in Our City." Rojas' article "All Hands on Deck: Youth Worker Burnout and Resilience during COVID-19" shares the firsthand accounts of youth development professionals on the front lines.
