Bradley Gardener is an academic community leader for the communications and media department at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) who has been teaching at the School since September 2007. Since joining CUNY SPS, he has taught over 100 online classes in the departments of general education, communications and media, and information systems. He earned his PhD in earth and environmental science from the Graduate Center in 2012.

In 2019, Gardener's dedication to students won him the distinction of becoming the inaugural recipient of the CUNY SPS Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. Now, he also mentors new faculty, evaluates courses, and is a facilitator in the Online Teaching Essentials Workshop for novice instructors.

Gardener loves talking about ideas big and small — from the classroom to the whole university system. He is passionate about student engagement and inspires students to take paths they were previously afraid of embarking upon, particularly in regard to quantitative literacy and spatial data visualization.
