Federal Grants
Grant money is awarded based on financial eligibility and does not have to be repaid. Students should be aware that all financial assistance awards are subject to student compliance with federal, state, and/or college regulations concerning satisfactory academic progress and standing. Students dropping courses should refer to the financial aid guidelines for eligibility. Students on probation who make satisfactory progress may continue to be eligible for financial aid.
Federal Pell Grant
This federal entitlement program was instituted to help undergraduate matriculated students meet the cost of their education. Pell grants are awarded to eligible students working towards their first bachelor’s degree. It is available to students enrolled part-time or full-time whose FAFSAs for the year demonstrate financial need.
Students are limited to 12 semesters, the equivalent of 600% of Pell Grant eligibility during their lifetime. Students who have already used 600% of their Pell Grant eligibility will no longer be eligible to receive a Pell grant. Students who enroll full time for the fall and spring semesters would use 100% of their Pell for that year. Including summer term, no more than 150% of the Pell eligibility can be used per award/academic year. Students can view their Pell LEU (lifetime eligibility used) by logging onto www.studentaid.gov and navigating to My Aid
