Four CUNY SPS MA in Applied Theatre students have co-authored articles published in the December 2020 double issue of NYU’s ArtsPraxis Educational Theatre journal. Alexis Jemal (’21), Brennan O’Rourke (’21), Jenny Hipscher (’21), and Tabatha Lopez (’21) wrote “Pandemic Lessons" (Volume 7 Issue 2a) and “Theatre for Liberating Social Work Education" (Volume 7 Issue 2b). Both articles draw on work these students undertook in MAAT courses.

Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Journal

Three CUNY SPS MA in Applied Theatre alums have had their work published in the Fall 2020 issue of the Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Journal. Julian Pimiento ('19) published "Joker's Log 2020: An Odyssey," and Grace Cannon ('19) and Nicole Kontolefa ('19) published "Don't Poke the Bear - A Project Report.” Cannon and Kontolefa’s article was derived from an MAAT independent study that took place in collaboration with Ashleigh Bragg ('19) and Elise Goldin ('20).

From Romania to New York: a CUNY SPS Success Story
