The CUNY School of Professional Studies is highlighted as one of 18 CUNY campuses that will receive federal funding from New York State to support underrepresented students entering or enrolled in mental health degree programs. Under a partnership with the New York State Office of Mental Health, SUNY and CUNY will each be provided $2 million to support tuition assistance, paid internships, and direct stipends for minority and multilingual students.

Jennifer Sparrow, associate dean of academic affairs at CUNY SPS, published the Op Ed "Estudiantes adultos merecen obtener créditos universitarios por lo que ya saben, incluido su idioma nativo" (Adult learners deserve to earn college credit for what they already know, including their native language) in the Spanish-language publication Noticia El Correo NY. In her piece, Sparrow explains how adult students may be able to get college credit for other languages they speak through the School's Credit for Prior Learning program.

Dr. Emmanuel Egbe, a consortia faculty of CUNY SPS within the business program, has published the memoir "Elephants, The Grass, and a Teacher: Recollections and Reflections on the Nigeria / Biafra War." The book chronicles both Dr. Egbe's personal and family experiences and his analysis of national events during the Nigeria / Biafra War.

CUNY SPS MA in Applied Theatre alum Ariyan Johnson (’14) has been awarded the University of California, Irving (UCI) Hellman Fellowship, which is bestowed annually to support research by junior faculty. Johnson, who is an assistant professor of dance at UCI, will apply the fellowship toward a project titled “Looking for Revelations.”

The Spanish-language publication El Correo has published an account of how Bryan Burgos, a CUNY SPS BS in Business graduate, proposed to his girlfriend during the School's 2022 Commencement ceremony.
