Henry Silverman is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He received his MD degree at The Johns Hopkins University (1974) and his MA Degree in Bioethics at Georgetown University (1995). He is chair of the Clinical Ethics Committee at the University of Maryland Medical Center since 1990. He also serves as program director of two Fogarty/National Institutes of Health Training Programs focused on building capacity in research ethics in the Middle East (since 2005) and in Myanmar (since 2015). He is also senior editor of a multi-author compendium: Research Ethics in the Arab Region (Springer Publishing). As a faculty member of the MS in Research Administration and Compliance program at CUNY School of Professional Studies, Dr. Silverman teaches the elective course RAC 651 – Ethical Issues in Clinical Research.
