What is the difference between a crisis and an emergency?
A crisis is a situation that requires prompt attention but does not immediately threaten life or physical safety. An emergency is a situation where there is imminent risk to your own, or someone else’s, life or safety.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis during our business hours (see right), you can contact our office and we will do our best to meet with you quickly. If you are experiencing a crisis outside of our business hours, text CUNY to 741741 or call 988 from any US phone. If you are experiencing an emergency, during or outside of business hours, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.

Students Residing Outside of the United States

We know that some SPS students reside outside of the United States and that Crisis Text Line, 988 and 911 may not be accessible. For a list of crisis and emergency services in countries outside of the US, please click here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emergency_telephone_numbers
