New York, NY – June 27, 2019  - The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) is pleased to announce that college credit will be granted to students who complete the Google IT Support Professional Certificate. The School evaluated the eight-month online training program for 12 college credits, which can be applied to its BS in Information Systems online degree.

In an ongoing effort to support the adult learner community, CUNY SPS offers an expansive Credit for Prior Learning initiative, which makes it possible for students to earn up to 90 undergraduate credits for knowledge and experience learned both inside and outside the classroom. The initiative aims to reduce the amount of time and financial burden that students spend on their undergraduate education.

The Google IT Support Professional Certificate corresponds to a full semester worth of credits at CUNY SPS, taking the place of IS 200, IS 205, IS 260, and IS 300, all required courses in the online BS in Information System degree program. Additionally, the certificate’s $49 price point saves students nearly $3,500 in tuition during their tenure at the School.

“I am delighted that we have added the Google IT Support Professional Certificate to our growing list of professional credentials that have been evaluated for college credit at CUNY SPS,” says Dr. Jennifer Sparrow, associate dean of academic affairs. “Leveraging the Google IT certificate for credit toward the bachelor’s in Information Systems at CUNY SPS will allow IT support professionals to advance beyond entry-level jobs into more senior IT positions with a high-quality, low-cost CUNY SPS degree.”

According to Google, their certificate not only prepares students for the fundamentals of IT support, such as troubleshooting and customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration, and security, but also serves as a pathway to jobs with renowned employers across a plethora of industries.

In addition to the Google certificate, CUNY SPS evaluates credit for credentials offered by Cisco, Oracle, CompTIA, AHIMA, AAPC, and various healthcare organizations.
