2020 Commencement Ceremony Postponed

Dear Members of the CUNY SPS Class of 2020,
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that commencement ceremonies throughout the CUNY system will be postponed. This decision was not made lightly; the health and safety of all graduates and their families and friends was pivotal in coming to this decision. Even knowing that, I am certain that for many of us, this is still extremely disappointing news.
Please remember that this will have no impact on diplomas, and all degrees will be conferred as scheduled.

I share the Chancellor’s sorrow that this decision is necessary, and at some future time, we will find a way to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of our graduating Class of 2020. CUNY SPS students are truly extraordinary, and are proving this in new and unimaginable ways every day. Together with faculty, staff, and members of the student association, we will be working on plans to honor our students and their achievements in new ways and, when it is safe to do so, we hope that we’ll be able to celebrate with you in person. We invite you to share your ideas, and any questions that you may have, at commencement@sps.cuny.edu. When we have more finalized plans, we will be sure to let you know.

Please take good care of yourselves and each other. We will get through this together.

Sincerely,

John Mogulescu, Dean
CUNY School of Professional Studies
