Social science meets social justice.

Dr. Isabelle Elisha is a developmental psychologist whose current projects examine Black youth’s civic engagement and community participation. She is also the new Associate Director of the Psychology program at CUNY SPS.

Join students and faculty for a Day in the Life conversation, where Dr. Elisha will discuss her path to Developmental Psychology, past and current positions/roles, her research, and how it all ties to the broader field of Developmental Psychology. Dr. Elisha’s research focuses on cultural and contextual influences on children's and adolescents’ developmental trajectories with a strong emphasis on the roles of race, ethnicity, gender, and socio-economic status. The goal of her work is to promote empirically-based solutions that meaningfully address the negative impact of discrimination, inequality, and injustice on young people's well-being.

The CUNY SPS MA in Psychology Program’s Day in the Life series provides students with an opportunity to learn about those in the fields of Industrial/Organizational and Developmental Psychology, the two concentrations offered in the program.

This talk will be 30-45 minutes, with a 20-30 minute Q&A to follow.
