Annual Scholarships

Established by Dr. Zeita-Marion Lobley, Director of Student Services, in memory of her late husband.

Award Amount: $1500, based on financial need and academic merit. Tuition only scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Completed at least 6 credits towards your current degree at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS)
• Enrolled in a CUNY SPS online bachelor's or master's degree program on a part- or full-time basis
• Minimum 2.5 GPA or higher
• Undergraduate students must be within 30 credits of graduation, and graduate students must be within 12 credits of graduation

Award Amount: $500 Part-time, $1500 Full-time, based on financial need and academic merit. Tuition only scholarship.

• Completed at least 6 credits towards your current degree at CUNY SPS

• Currently enrolled in the CUNY SPS Children's Program Administrator Credential
• Newly admitted or a prospective student to the CUNY SPS Child Development Associate Certificate
• Completing a minimum of 6 credits towards your current degree at CUNY SPS is not required for this scholarship

Scholarship Criteria:

• Completed at least 6 credits towards your current degree at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS)
• BS in Information Systems, the BS in Health Information Management, or the MS in Data Analytics
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
• Undergraduate students must be within 30 credits of graduation, and graduate students must be within 12 credits of graduation.

Endowed in perpetuity by the generosity of founding donor, Tracy L. Meade, Senior Associate Dean for Strategy and Innovation, in memory of her late brother.

Award Amount: Varied, based on financial need and priority will be given to eligible applicants with a disabled family member. Tuition only scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Completed at least 6 credits towards your current degree at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS)
• Part-time/full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the CUNY SPS Disability Studies Program
• Minimum 2.0 GPA or higher
• If the applicant pool(s) does/do not include a student with a disabled family member, the Scholarship Committee will choose the best eligible applicant(s)

Established by Tyerence E. Brown, a two-time graduate of CUNY SPS (BS in Business ’16 and MS in Business Management and Leadership ‘20). He serves as a very active member of the Alumni Engagement Council (AEC).

Award Amount: $1,000, based on financial need

Scholarship Criteria:

• Must have earned a Bachelor's Degree from CUNY SPS
• Enrolled as a first Master's student at CUNY SPS
• Enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits for the awarded semester

On behalf of the Newcombe Foundation, this scholarship is made available to incoming and continuing CUNY SPS undergraduate students working towards their first bachelor's degree.

Award Amount: Up to $500, based on financial need.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Must have completed at least 60 transferable credits towards their Bachelor's Degree
• Have earned a minimum of 2.5 GPA from prior college and/or university
• Enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits for the awarded semester

The CUNY School of Professional Studies Summer 2024 Scholarship is available to undergraduate students enrolled in the Summer Session 1 and/or 2 semester.  Priority will be given to students whose final semester is Fall 2024 and who have not received a CUNY SPS scholarship award in previous semesters.  Applicants must complete a Financial Need Statement.
 
Award Amount: up to $500.00. Tuition-only scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Applicant must be a matriculated undergraduate degree seeking student enrolled in the Summer 2024 session 1 and/or session 2
• Applicant must have a 2.0 or higher GPA
• Applicant must file a 2024-2025 FAFSA application
• Priority will be given to those whose final semester is Fall 2024
• Priority will be given to students who have not been awarded a CUNY SPS Scholarship in previous semesters

With support from the New-York Historical Society and in honor of its President, Louise Mirror, this scholarship provides partial tuition assistance for students who are pursuing their graduate degree in the field of Museum Studies at CUNY SPS.

Award Amount: Up to $1,880.00, depending on fund availability.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Eligible for students who are admitted to the MA in Museum Studies program
• Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in the semester for which the scholarship is awarded
• Contribution to diversity and inclusion, as articulated by an essay that is part of the scholarship application

Established through the generous support of the New York County Health Services Review Organization, Inc. (NYCHSRO), the NYCHSRO Medical Coding Scholarship will support awarded students through their Medical Coding certificate tenure. Provided students remain eligible, the selected scholars will receive $1000 cover their first semester’s tuition, fee coverage for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exams, and tuition coverage for the last four courses in the certificate program.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Newly admitted and enrolled as a student to CUNY SPS Medical Coding Certificate program.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the Medical Coding field and an understanding of the role of medical coding auditors, as conveyed through the scholarship application essay.
• Review and agree to the Terms of the scholarship and eligibility requirements for maintaining the scholarship award.

Established by Dr. Zeita-Marion Lobley, Director of Student Services, in memory of Otilia Abraham.  Otilia served as the CUNY SPS Director of Academic Advisement from 2014 - 2023.  The purpose of the Otilia Abraham Memorial Scholarship is to assist returning students in completing their undergraduate degree at CUNY School of Professional Studies.

Award Amount: Up to $1,000, depending on fund availability.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Students previously enrolled at SPS who did not attend in Fall 2025
• Undergraduate students at CUNY SPS
• Enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits for the awarded semester
• Minimum 2.0 GPA
• Within 12 credits of graduation

The Sunderland ADHD Support Scholarship provides financial assistance to students at CUNY SPS who participate in a structured ADHD coaching or support programs and demonstrate meaningful engagement, skill development, and ongoing use of planning tools that foster academic and personal success. Students with a demonstrated commitment or contribution to the educational preparation of study on ADHD and/or research focused on neurodivergent individuals are also eligible to apply. Applicants must meet the below criteria.

Award Amount: 

Up to $1,500 towards the cost of an approved ADHD coaching and support program. Up to $1,500 in tuition assistance upon completion of the program.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Be enrolled in a degree program for both the summer and fall semesters at CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS).
• Submit a short personal statement (300–500 words) on how participation in the ADHD support program would impact their academic journey and how they plan to continue applying the skills learned.
• Submit a short statement (no more than 300 words) describe their current method of managing academic responsibilities, including how they organize coursework, track assignments, and plan for deadlines.
• If selected, you will be required to participate in a designated ADHD coaching or support program approved by the Office of Student Disability Services at CUNY SPS.
• Review and agree to the Terms of the scholarship and eligibility requirements for maintaining the scholarship award.

Established by the CUNY SPS Foundation to support its military student community.

Award Amount: Up to $55 per credit and student fees to help cover the tuition gap of max benefits.
Takes into consideration all veteran education benefits for Military students towards tuition and/or fees.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Enrolled in a CUNY SPS undergraduate degree program on a part-time or full-time basis (Note: First time students to CUNY SPS must be formally admitted)
• Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher for current undergraduates
• Eligible to all active-duty military, guard, reservists and veterans at the CUNY SPS

This scholarship was established to support incoming or continuing undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Youth Studies program at CUNY SPS.

Award Amount: up to $1,500.00, based on eligibility and merit.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Be a student impacted by the criminal justice system and/or committed to supporting under-represented groups in the youth-serving field as defined in the eligibility requirements:
  1. Students from the following under-represented groups are eligible to apply:
     • African American
     • Caribbean American
     • Latinx
     • Asian
     • Students with disabilities and/or
  2. Students with a demonstrated commitment or contribution to the educational preparation of African American, Caribbean American, Latinx, or Asian students and/or students with disabilities, in leadership and research in the youth-serving field.
  3. Students impacted by the criminal justice system (self, parent, or immediate family member), and /or
  4. Students with a demonstrated commitment or interest in contributing to the educational preparation, study of, and research in supporting individuals impacted by the criminal justice system in some way, with preference to those focused on the impact on youth
      
• Undergraduate or Graduate enrolled as a a Youth Studies major.
  • Note - first time students to CUNY SPS must be formally admitted.
• Enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits in the semester for which the scholarship is awarded
• Please note, in addition to the application, applicants will be required to submit essays:
  • Confirming personal commitment to educational preparation of African American, Caribbean American, Latinx, or Asian students and/or students with disabilities, in leadership and research in the youth serving field and;
  • A personal statement including your commitment to the field, young people, their goals and how the scholarship will be beneficial to you
• Students must also include a resume or CV with their application
