What were some of the most defining aspects of your time at CUNY SPS?
Certainly the wide range of classes available in the disability studies program, ranging from education to diversity to literature and more.
What is the best piece of advice, or most important thing you learned at CUNY SPS?
That everyone has a connection to disability in some way, either through family, friends, work, etc.
Who influenced you the most? Please feel free to include anyone from the CUNY SPS community including faculty, staff, or fellow classmates.
Big shout-out to Prof. Cassandra Evans! She encouraged me to apply to academic conferences and publications and I’m ever-grateful for her support.
How has your CUNY SPS influenced your current job, and your career overall?
It has certainly informed my interest in academia overall and especially with conferences and publishing. My time at CUNY SPS encouraged me to apply to PhD programs, and I’m currently a doctoral fellow at the University of Virginia.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Collaborating with individuals across disability studies and the arts, ranging from artists to scholars and more.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
My dream is to hold an interdisciplinary academic position in disability studies in the arts.
