The Academy collaborates with healthcare industry partners to upskill registered and advanced practice nurses. The goal is to increase the number of nurse preceptors, educators, and leaders, supporting advancement to entry, mid-level, and high-skilled positions in NYC healthcare settings and across CUNY Nursing Programs.
Benefits of the Credential:
- Free 13-18 CEUs awarded upon completion of program (depending on program choosen)
- Curriculum addresses core competencies of nursing professional associations (National League of Nursing, American Organization for Nursing Leadership, Association for Nursing Professional Development)
- Engage with peers across healthcare settings to learn with and from each other
- Credential is provided upon completion of all program requirements
- Credential may apply to credit for CUNY RN-BS and graduate nursing programs and may prepare participants for future certification exams (NLN, ANPD, ANA, AONL)
- Successful completion includes optional (free) participation in CUNY-sponsored mentoring activities and professional development events
Participation Considerations:
- The 10-12 weeks programs are offered in the Fall and Spring
- Two-week trial period at the start of each cohort
- Participants must attend an orientation webinar prior to program launch to become acquainted with the learning management system and curriculum
- Online asynchronous learning modules and related assignments must be completed independently by participants each week to prepare for Live Learning Community engagement
- Participants must engage in ≥80% of scheduled live, faculty-facilitated Learning Community meetings
General Program Structure
Participation in both elements is integral to successful completion of the program. Asynchronous Activities occur weekly, and may include required readings, videos, discussion board postings, assignments, and reflections.
Synchronous Activities consist of one-hour Learning Community Zoom sessions with course participants, and the nursing faculty facilitator hosted approximately twice per month.
Requirements for program completion:
- Submit 100% of written assignments through Brightspace (CUN Y Learning Management System).
- Attend at least 80% of the live Zoom Learning Community sessions (5 out of 6 live sessions).
