The CIED is pleased to invite you to a special screening of Stranger at the Gate, a 2023 Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary Short Film. Directed by Joshua Seftel, and supported by Malala Yousafzai as the executive producer, this powerful film tells the true story of how an act of compassion can prevent an act of hate.

The documentary follows Afghan refugee Bibi Bahrami and the members of her community in a mosque in Indiana as they encounter U.S. Marine Richard "Mac" McKinney, who secretly plans to bomb their mosque. What unfolds is a remarkable journey toward grace, transformation, and hope.

Following the screening, we will be joined by the film's cast, Bibi Bahrami and Mac McKinney, for a panel discussion moderated by Emily Zachary, Unity Director, We are Many-United Against Hate.

This event is open to all CUNY SPS students, faculty, and staff.
