CUNY SPS Anti-Hate Education Series: Understanding Trends in Hate Crime
In this first workshop of the CUNY SPS Anti-Hate Education Series, participants can engage in interactive training that will cover historical and current stereotypes, biases, hate campaigns, and discrimination related to trends and the rise in hate crimes. Relevant data will be shared demonstrating how various identities and communities have been impacted in recent years.
The tremendous effect that microaggressions, hate crimes, and other hate-related incidents, have on community health and safety will be addressed.
Participants will learn the five strategies for Bystander Intervention and how to prioritize one’s safety while effectively responding to hate-based harassment observed online or in person.
