The CIED Presents: Fostering an LGBTQ+ Inclusive Campus for Students

The Committee on Institutional Equity and Diversity (CIED) is committed to sustaining a culture of inclusion and belonging at CUNY SPS. Our goal is to always provide a safe space for knowledge building and the exchange of current best practices to embed equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles in our daily lives. On Monday, April 3, 2023 between 5:30 PM- 7:30 PM, the CIED will host a virtual Safe Zone training. 

The Safe Zone training is a highly interactive and in-depth workshop dedicated to enhancing one’s knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community while learning the foundations of active allyship through an intersectional lens. Participants of the training will be provided with a better understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, how to embody the principles of being a Safe Zone in their everyday lives, first-hand knowledge of LGBTQ+ experiences, clear and ready to utilize tools to provide a safe, and affirmative space for marginalized communities and a space to ask questions. Trainees will also be given their very own Safe Zone Initiative sticker to proudly display as well as a comprehensive manual full of resources and activities.
