This interactive session will teach participants strategies and interventions they can use to support the LGBTQIA+ community. The workshop includes a broad discussion on the stigma, harassment, and types of discrimination that the LGBTQIA+ community faces today.

Participants will learn what to look for and the positive impact that bystander intervention has on individuals and communities. We will utilize the “spectrum of disrespect” toolkit to define harassment and engage in various scenarios when applying the 5Ds of bystander intervention.

LGBTQIA+ programming here at CUNY SPS is made possible due to generous funding from the New York City Council Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual Caucus and the Office of the Mayor, and supported by The LaGuardia and Wagner Archives
