Summer Session 2026

Finish Your Degree Faster this Summer.

Summer Session at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) is a great way to make progress toward graduation by catching up or moving ahead in your degree. It's the perfect time to enroll in a general education class or that elective you've been eager to take. Summer Session is open to current and newly admitted CUNY SPS students, all current CUNY students via ePermit, and visiting students from other colleges.

As a leader in the University’s initiative to save students money on textbooks, 98% of our General Education summer classes have Zero Textbook Cost. Be sure to search for these “Z sections” which use Open Education Resources (OER) rather than traditional textbooks.

Summer Registration Credit Limits for New Students

At CUNY SPS, we want every new student to start strong. Online asynchronous learning offers incredible flexibility, but it also comes with a learning curve because our summer terms move fast. To set you up for success from the start, we limit new student registration during the summer to 3 credits per term.

This applies to both the 7-week and 10-week summer terms. Please note that not all programs offer 10-week summer courses; your advisor can confirm what's available in your program.
If you're eager to take on more and feel ready to do so, students interested in exceeding the 3-credit limit during the 7-week term are encouraged to connect with their academic advisor to review a plan that supports their goals while keeping success in focus.
