Student Belonging, Equity & Support

Your rights, resources, and support as a CUNY SPS student

At CUNY SPS, we are committed to creating a learning environment where all students feel respected, supported, and able to succeed. For more information view CUNY's policy on Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination.

This page connects you to the resources, policies, and opportunities that support your experience -- including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the School.

Not sure where to start? If you’re not sure where to go, we’ll help connect you to the right resource:

Your Rights as a Student

As a CUNY SPS student, you have the right to:

  • Learn in an environment free from discrimination and harassment
  • Be treated with respect by faculty, staff, and fellow students
  • Access accommodations and support services
  • Report concerns safely and without fear of retaliation

These rights are protected by CUNY policies and federal and state law.

Get Help or Report a Concern

If something doesn’t feel right, help is available.

You can report or seek support for:

  • Discrimination or harassment
  • Sexual misconduct or Title IX concerns
  • Bias-related or hate incidents
  • Accessibility or accommodation issues

Report a Concern or Get Support

What happens next?

When you reach out, trained staff will listen, explain your options, and help you decide what steps to take. Under Title IX, you are not required to pursue a formal process to receive support; however, other reports of discrimination and harassment that may fall under our Equal Opportunity/Non-Discrimination policy may require the college to take action even if a student doesn't want to pursue a formal process.
