As this year exposed an unprecedented disparity growth between the wealthy and the working class, this discussion between Lumumba Akinwole-Bandele and Dr. Charisse Burden-Stelly will examine the dynamics that allow for and foster extreme wealth and extreme poverty at the same time.
Additionally, we will explore the role institutional racism plays in this dynamic. We will examine what a truly just society can look like outside of capitalism, as well as explore contemporary work rooted in challenging and dismantling racial capitalism.
Speakers:
- Dr. Charisse Burden-Stelly, Visiting Scholar, Race and Capitalism Project, University of Chicago
- Lumumba Akinwole-Bandele, former National Strategies and Partnerships Director, Movement for Black Lives
