Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Welcome to the Fall 2025 Semester at the CUNY School of Professional Studies! Each new academic year is an opportunity to begin fresh with new goals, renewed energy, and the shared excitement of new possibilities.
This year at CUNY SPS, we continue to build upon our School’s legacy and its practices. Our faculty are dedicated to providing an outstanding education for our students and our leadership is committed to creating a workplace that supports and develops our community. We have been busy developing new programs, soon to launch, that reflect real workplace settings, such as in AI and Nonprofit Management. We have invested in our staff and faculty and provided increased opportunities for professional development so that our community can bring the best of themselves to the work they do every day for our students. And we are refining our mission to ensure that we keep step with the needs of our learners and our workplace.
As we begin this semester, I’d like to emphasize that we are here for our students. At CUNY SPS, your success is our mission, and our faculty and staff are committed to supporting you all along the way.
You balance work, family, and other responsibilities along with your studies and demonstrate extraordinary resilience and determination. We know that studying as an adult learner is not always easy, and that’s why we offer a wide range of resources designed to help you thrive. From tutoring, writing support, and advising to financial aid counseling and emergency assistance, we are dedicated to making sure that you don’t have to face challenges alone.
To our faculty and staff: none of this happens without you, the dedicated people who constitute our community. As mentors and supporters, we are committed not only to our students but also to one another as colleagues and partners in this work. Our shared commitment—to teaching, to research, to student service—creates the vibrant, innovative learning community that defines our School. Together, we are building an environment where all members of CUNY SPS feel supported, valued, and inspired.
This semester, I encourage our students to take advantage of the many resources available and to remember that you are part of a community that is deeply invested in your success. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the faculty and staff who are here for you—today, tomorrow, and every step of the way.
With best wishes to all for a successful fall semester,
Lisa R. Braverman, PhD
Dean, CUNY School of Professional Studies
