The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) is pleased to announce that Andrea Brown, an experienced nonprofit executive, has been appointed as the School’s Executive Director of Development in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR).
“It is my great pleasure to welcome Andrea as our new Executive Director of Development. With her impressive background in nonprofit development and strategy, we are confident Andrea will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of development at CUNY SPS,” said Dr. Lisa R. Braverman, dean of the CUNY School of Professional Studies. “Her leadership will be key in strengthening our community partnerships and expanding development opportunities that align with our own mission to support our students. We are eager to see the positive impact Andrea will have as we work together to advance our School’s fundraising goals.”
“We are thrilled that Andrea is joining our team. Her deep, strategic fundraising experience to support the missions of educational and social justice organizations will help the Foundation expand its reach,” said Blake Foote, chair of the CUNY SPS Foundation Board. “The Foundation Board and CUNY SPS staff look forward to partnering with Andrea to secure needed resources for our hardworking students."
In her new role, Brown will work in partnership with the CUNY SPS Foundation Board of Directors and with industry partners to develop joint relationships for the purpose of fundraising for student scholarships and support.
Brown brings nearly 20 years of experience leading diverse teams in the nonprofit sector, raising funds for youth-serving, social service, and educational organizations. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Development at the Institute for Community Living in New York City, where she launched key initiatives that expanded the organization's donor community. Prior to this, Brown led development efforts at several other local nonprofits and higher ed institutions, including Girls Inc. of New York City and Columbia University, where she served as Leadership Gift Officer in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
