The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) is pleased to announce that the School’s award-winning annual publication, the CUNY SPS Magazine, has been officially renamed by members of the community.

Following the CUNY SPS magazine naming contest this spring, a panel of judges chose the magazine’s updated title from entries submitted by the School’s students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

The magazine’s new title will be VOICES: The Magazine of the CUNY School of Professional Studies.

Two members of the CUNY SPS community share the winning honor for suggesting this title. They are Carlos Ronisky, academic program manager, Online Business Programs; and Wendy Castillejo, academic and career advisor, Data Science and Information Systems

Two additional titles were chosen by the panel of judges to be featured as sections of the magazine.

The first title ‘Catch Up With Lex’, which will be included as a section for student-based news, was submitted by Amarna Williams, student disability services specialist and an MS in Disability Services in Higher Education alum.

A second winning title, ‘P.S.’, was coined by Armando “A.J.” Ramos, a BA in Communication and Media alum, for the magazine’s back page section.

Entries were reviewed and selected by a panel of judges including Nidia Cordova, alumni relations manager; Frances Correa, executive director for Human Resources; Kelly Cunningham, senior graphic designer; Parsh Lal, student life club and organization coordinator; and Ariana Souzis, communications publications writer-editor.

Published by the CUNY SPS Office of Marketing, Communications, and Events, the School’s annual magazine features in-depth stories, news, and updates about the School and its community.

In 2023, the magazine was awarded a silver award in the Annual or Community Report Category by the website Education Digital Marketing Awards.

The magazine’s new title and look will be launched with the 2025 issue, due out late this fall.
