Following the opening sequence, CUNY SPS Human Resources Benefits Manager Kimesha Johnson (at right) offered welcoming remarks to awardees and the assembled audience.

Johnson then introduced the guest speaker, CUNY’s Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, Galia Galansky. In her address, Associate Vice Chancellor Galansky reflected on how effectively CUNY SPS delivers on the University’s mission of elevating the lives of New Yorkers through education.

“At the [CUNY] Central Office, we often talk about the power of CUNY to transform lives,” said Galansky. “You are the reason [CUNY] SPS is not just a School, but a lifeline for so many New Yorkers. You are the reason our mission is not just a statement, but a reality. So on behalf of the CUNY leadership—thank you.”

Following Associate Vice Chancellor Galansky, CUNY SPS Dean Lisa R. Braverman also imparted words of appreciation.

“This recognition is about more than years—it’s about the collective impact you’ve made on our students, on one another, and on the School we’ve all helped shape together,” said Dean Braverman. “Your work continues to yield results. Over the past few years, CUNY SPS has seen record-breaking enrollment growth. We’ve also continued to expand our academic portfolio with nearly 20 new degrees, tracks, and certificate programs, launch new student support initiatives, and strengthen our sense of community—all thanks to your hard work and commitment.”

After the speeches, special engraved achievement awards were presented to each guest of honor.

At the close of the ceremony, Johnson offered a note of heartfelt thanks to the honorees, the event’s volunteers, and all attendees.
