Day in The Life with Dr. Kelly Rabenstein
The CUNY SPS Psychology Program’s Day in the Life series provides students with an opportunity to learn about, and speak directly with, those actively working in various subdisciplines in Psychology. In line with the purpose of the series, Dr. Kelly Rabenstein, one of our featured speakers for the fall semester, will discuss her area of focus.
Dr. Rabenstein is a licensed counseling psychologist. She earned a Master of Science in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Boston College, and a Doctor of Counseling Psychology at Chatham University. Her focus is on relationships between people and the ability (or inability) for individuals to deeply connect through interpersonal communication.
During this event, Dr. Rabenstein will discuss her path to Psychology, past and current positions, and how it all ties to the broader field of Counseling Psychology. This talk will be 30-40 minutes, with a 20-30 minute Q & A to follow.
All CUNY SPS students are welcome to attend.
Dr. Rabenstein is adjunct faculty at the City University of New York as well as Purdue Global University. In the past, she worked in a wide range of clinical settings including hospital in-patient, detention centers, partial programs for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders, inner-city schools, private college preparatory schools, several universities, community mental health, community organizing NGO’s, and as a consultant for companies who want to improve productivity through increased communication.
Dr. Rabenstein’s writing has appeared in academic journals, magazines, online news sources, and more. She is often asked to make appearances as a mental health expert in the media (ABC, TedX, The Doctors TV show, Bustle, Mic, Thrive, Real Simple, and PopSugar for example).
She lives in Charleston, SC with her daughters, a golden retriever, and a black kitty named Friend.
