Vaccination Policy Update - 8/4/21

Dear CUNY SPS Student,

On July 6, 2021, the CUNY Board of Trustees approved the University-wide student vaccination policy.

While I encourage you to review the full policy FAQs at https://www.cuny.edu/coronavirus/faqs/, it is most essential for you to understand that CUNY SPS students attending in-person and hybrid classes for the Fall 2021 semester are required to be fully vaccinated. Students enrolled in online courses only are not required to submit documentation, but can do so using CUNYfirst.

Please note that you must submit vaccination documentation no later than the new deadline of September 14, 2021, if you are planning to register for a class that meets on campus at SPS or another CUNY campus via ePermit.

To meet this deadline, you must receive one of the following vaccines by these dates:

  • Moderna: the first dose would have to be no later than August 3
  • Pfizer: the first dose would have to be no later than August 10
  • Johnson & Johnson: single dose by August 31

You can provide verification of a COVID-19 vaccination by submitting evidence of vaccination through the CUNYfirst portal. A user guide on how to upload proof of vaccination can be found here.

Medical exemptions and religious exceptions can be requested via the Vaccination Verification portal in CUNYFirst and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Students can visit campus for other reasons without being fully vaccinated, but must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 7 days prior to the visit. Information about this process is forthcoming.
