"CUNY SPS has allowed me to make connections with others that have similar interests and goals as me. The students I met were from all different walks of life, which is what makes CUNY so amazing and diverse."

What were some of the most defining aspects of your time at CUNY SPS?

CUNY SPS has allowed me to make connections with others that have similar interests and goals as me. The students I met were from all different walks of life, which is what makes CUNY so amazing and diverse. Additionally, I valued the opportunity to meet many of the amazing leaders in the university system and network at some of the Student Association events.

What is the best piece of advice, or most important thing you learned at CUNY SPS?

The most important thing I took away from my time at CUNY SPS is that the School provides such an enriching learning experience, with the flexibility of having a wide variety of online programs that could work around your schedule. I didn't know this existed until I found CUNY SPS. I have gotten all of my undergraduate degrees at colleges throughout the CUNY network and recommend it to all of my colleagues. The level of support from the professors is that of an on-campus program, with the added benefit of taking classes at your own pace. I do believe CUNY SPS has paved the way for online education for decades to come.

How has your time at CUNY SPS influenced your current job, and your career overall?

CUNY SPS has allowed me to pursue my master's degree at an affordable rate, which relieved me of any financial burdens while I pursued the next step in my career. It has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and a very solid foundation in my field, in addition to many meaningful professional connections.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The support that I get from my chief administrator, as well as the ability to be able to be part of many different aspects of managing my division, provides me with a wide breadth of knowledge and opportunities. This allows me to learn the things I enjoy and the things that I don't particularly feel strongly about to better understand what I would like to do with my future.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Professionally, I am hoping to be a director of a service line, operations – something along those lines. I am constantly looking for ways to continue to develop my skills and become a knowledge expert in healthcare management. Personally, I hope to be able to upgrade the condo I own to a house.

Outside the Classroom

  • What show/s are you currently watching? Chicago PD, Med and Fire- my favorite series. I'm also watching Yellowstone.
  • What is your favorite meal? Tacos!
  • What is your favorite line in a movie? "Just keep swimming" - Finding Nemo. As silly as that sounds when you are faced with an obstacle or moment that seems too overwhelming, just keep going. I am a firm believer that anytime you think something didn't work out for you in the way that you wanted, it's because a breakthrough is happening, and greater things are around the corner.
  • Favorite or most recent book you read? I'm currently reading Michelle Obama's memoir "Becoming" which I am really excited about as her story is quite inspiring.
  • Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, none, all? Instagram for friend connections and LinkedIn for professional networking. It's so hard to keep up with them all so I try to stay active on those two. I spend all day on email/on the computer for work so I don't need any extra screen time. In fact, I try to just unplug after hours!
  • List 3 things you would bring to a deserted island. Many, many, many books!
