Undergraduate Advising

How to Connect with Undergraduate Academic Advisement

Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor throughout the academic year, especially when reviewing degree progress, planning future semesters, preparing for registration, approaching graduation, or navigating academic concerns.

Schedule an Advising Appointment

Students can schedule an academic advising appointment through Navigate Student.

Click here for a tutorial on how to schedule an appointment using Navigate Student.

If you do not see an appointment time that works for your schedule, email your assigned academic advisor with two to three possible time windows. Your advisor will do their best to accommodate your schedule.

Continuing Student Zoom Drop-In Hours

Continuing Student Zoom Drop-In Hours are available:
Mondays and Thursdays, 2:00–4:00 PM
Excluding holidays and campus closures

Your assigned advisor may have a select day in which they are available in drop-ins.

Please use your first and last name when logging into Zoom.

Zoom drop-ins are best for brief advising questions. For more detailed academic planning, students are encouraged to schedule an appointment.

Email Academic Advisement

Students are strongly encouraged to email their assigned academic advisor directly or contact: advisement@sps.cuny.edu

When emailing your academic advisor, please use your CUNY SPS email account and include:

  • Full name
  • EMPLID
  • Program
  • Specific question or concern
  • Term or course information, if applicable
  • Error Message with screenshots, if helpful

Email advisement is asynchronous, meaning the conversation does not happen in real time, but is useful when interacting with multiple offices.  Be sure to review previous advisement emails since your question may have already been answered in an earlier message, course recommendation, or email reminder.

If your situation requires back-and-forth conversation, detailed course planning, academic difficulty, or multiple policy questions, it may be better to schedule an appointment or attend Zoom drop-in advisement.

Phone

Current students may contact their assigned academic advisor directly or the main advisement line at:

(646) 664-8709
(Undergraduate Advising only)

Voicemails should include your full name, EMPLID, phone number, and reason for calling.

Walk-in academic advisement is not available. Students are welcome to connect virtually through scheduled appointments or Zoom drop-in advisement.
