The Committee on Institutional Equity and Diversity (CIED) invites you to participate in Denim Day, Wednesday, April 29, 2026, a global movement dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence and challenging harmful misconceptions about consent.

Denim Day began in response to a court ruling that placed blame on a survivor’s clothing rather than the assault itself. Today, wearing denim has become a powerful symbol of solidarity with survivors and a call to end the victim‑blaming culture.

Join us for a virtual panel discussion featuring speakers who will explore consent, survivor support, and the role we all play in fostering a safer, more respectful campus community. This conversation will create space for learning, reflection, and meaningful dialogue centered on accountability and care.

We encourage all members of the CUNY SPS community to wear denim as a visible statement of support and advocacy. Let’s come together to stand with survivors, spark dialogue, and promote a culture of respect and responsibility.

For questions or to get involved, please contact: equitydiversitycommittee@sps.cuny.edu

We hope to see you in denim.

This event is open to all students, staff, and faculty.
