Supported by the CIED and presented by Jason Gaines, this session explores emotional intelligence (EQ) as a learnable, practical skill that supports stress management, clearer communication, and self-aware leadership.
Originally developed for higher education professionals, this presentation has been adapted to resonate with a broader audience, including students, faculty, and staff. It draws on real campus experiences, particularly the emotional dimensions of student support, team dynamics, and leadership.
Participants will leave with three practical EQ habits they can apply immediately simple tools to help respond instead of reacting, connect instead of assuming, and reflect instead of judge. The session is engaging, approachable, and conversational, while remaining grounded in research. Rather than a formal lecture, it offers a shared space for reflection, learning, and growth.
