Welcome to the Fall 2024 Semester

Dear CUNY SPS Students and Community Members,

As we begin the fall 2024 semester, I am very excited about the journey ahead! Whether you are a returning student or brand new to SPS and joining us for the very first time, I would like to extend a warm welcome to each of you. The start of a new semester is always a time of renewed energy and fresh possibilities, and I am confident that this fall will be no exception. You are taking the opportunity to learn, grow, and make meaningful contributions to our School, to your communities, and to your personal lives. Congratulations on your choice to study at SPS!

Now in our second decade, I am pleased to share that CUNY SPS is beginning the new academic year on a wave of growth. As one of over 4,600 students attending CUNY SPS this fall, you will be joining our largest incoming class to date, along with thousands of other City and nonprofit workers participating in the workplace training programs offered by our newly renamed Office of Innovative Learning Solutions (ILS).

Following our strong tradition of academic excellence and innovation—for which we earn yearly accolades from U.S. News & World Report and other ranking organizations—we look forward to providing you with the education, skills, and support that will help you thrive now and in your future career as we work on new in-demand degree and certificate programs in technology, business, healthcare, nursing, psychology, and other fields

To that end, our dedicated faculty and staff have been working diligently to prepare courses, resources, and educational tools that will challenge and inspire you. Of special note is this fall’s transition to Brightspace, the School’s new learning management system, which will ensure you have a seamless and successful online learning experience.

I also encourage you to engage fully with the opportunities that lie ahead. Whether through academic pursuits, extracurricular clubs and activities, or community involvement, this is your chance to make the most of the rich and diverse environment that CUNY SPS offers.

To our CUNY SPS staff and faculty, welcome back from summer! I look forward to working together with you to provide the best possible experience for our students as we embark upon another year of energizing work, close collaboration, and inspired team effort.

Finally, as we move forward, let us also remember the importance of supporting one another. The strength of our community lies in our shared commitment to inclusivity, respectful communication, and collaboration. Let’s approach this semester with an open mind and a willingness to learn from each other’s experiences and remain mindful of each other’s points of view. By fostering a culture of empathy and understanding, we can ensure that everyone at CUNY SPS feels valued and empowered to succeed.
