Black Male Initiative

The CUNY SPS Black Male Initiative (BMI) is a program designed to integrate culturally competent peer mentoring into our Inclusive Career Ladders program, with the goal to improve diversity in the fields of nursing, health information management, health services administration and medical coding. The BMI program is specifically meant to serve the needs of our students who are men of color but it is open to any student in our healthcare and nursing programs. The program Advisory Committee meets regularly to collaborate on program design and improvement efforts. This program is supported by a generous grant from the CUNY Black Male Initiative.
