Advanced Certificate in Health Care Policy and Administration

Format: On Campus

Effective Fall 2018, the Murphy Institute will become the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies and the Advanced Certificate in Health Care Policy and Administration will no longer be offered at the CUNY School of Professional Studies.

The Advanced Certificate in Health Care Policy and Administration provides professional development for workers in New York City’s health care industry. An important professional credential, the advanced certificate gives health care employees in both public and private health care systems an opportunity to advance their careers and serve the public more effectively.

Students gain a rich understanding of the theory and practice of health care policy and administration while developing advanced analytic, research, writing, and presentation skills.

Career and Academic Advancement

Graduates from the program may pursue careers as health care managers and administrators, as well as public policy analysts and advocates. The advanced certificate is a step toward advancement for those working in government, non-profit organizations, and the private health care system. The certificate can also serve as a stepping off point for those with a scholarly interest in health care. In addition, graduates may be able to apply the earned credits to the MA in Urban Studies. Credits may also be applied to other degree programs within CUNY; however, students should contact these other colleges prior to enrolling in the certificate program to ensure transferability of credits.

The program is offered through CUNY SPS’s Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies.
