Shakima Williams-Jones

Co-Chair, Student Association

Shakima Williams-Jones

Shakima has immensely enjoyed serving our CUNY SPS Community for a third year by being a part of both the Governing Council and the Student Association. During the past school year, the Student Association continued its committee work, sponsored CUNY SPS hosted symposiums, networking events, NSLS events, as well as our student body community building field trip to see the Brooklyn Nets play. They continue to support the newspaper that was founded, The Kiosk. She has also advocated for our school whenever possible.

It has been an honor for Shakima to serve as a Student Representative on the Governing Council and Co-Chair of the Student Association building relationships with students, faculty and staff. She also served as a member of the Professional Development Grant Committee, Chair of the Special Events Committee, and Member of the CUNY SPS Technology Fee Committee.

She would like to continue to be able to bring her unique perspective as a career professional (Accountant), mother of five, student and educator. She also believes that she possess a unique and interesting subset of skills that are applicable to many of the issues and ideas considered in Student Association, and that also enable her to fit into the proverbial shoes of most of our student population.
