SPS develops customized programs to meet the needs of employers and other organizations, including unions, government agencies, and nonprofits.
These programs may be credit-bearing or non-credit, range in length from a few hours to several months long, and cover many topic areas.
A few of SPS' custom programs are described below:
Off-Campus College The City University of New York welcomes the Off-Campus College to its new home at the CUNY School of Professional Studies. As a program partner to the CUNY School of Professional Studies, the Off-Campus College will seamlessly continue to serve the 250 students currently enrolled and will preserve its unique identity as a program that delivers curriculum tailored to the academic and employee development needs of both students and organizational partners. It will also maintain its focus on action research in the field of adult learning and the workplace.

Coastal Storm Plan Personnel Training Program To prepare for the potential impact of a large coastal storm, the New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has developed a Coastal Storm Plan (CSP). OEM is recruiting up to 68,000 volunteers from City agencies and nonprofit organizations who will staff and provide logistical support to the Evacuation Centers and Hurricane Shelters. To prepare these volunteers, OEM is collaborating with SPS to develop and deliver a training program.

Leadership Development in the Mexican-American Community
A program that trains leaders of community-based organizations working within the Mexican-American immigrant community in New York City. Participants learn to better organize and support their organizations, and more effectively advocate on behalf of their community with the media and elected officials. Offered in partnership with the
Baruch College School of Public Affairs and the
Consulate General of Mexico in New York.
Nonprofit Fund Raising and Development Certificate
A three course, undergraduate certificate program aimed at helping administrative and program staff in nonprofit organizations successfully conduct fundraising of all types, including foundation and government grants, events, and gifts from individuals. Developed in partnership with
Community Resource Exchange, with support from the
New York Community Trust and
W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
Practical Project Management
A project management course developed especially to support the implementation of a new University-wide technology system for administrative operations within CUNY. Participants, who span the range of University operations from finance to information technology to student services, learn how to conceptualize, implement and manage major projects using project management principles and tools. Developed in collaboration with the
CUNY Office of Computing and Information Services.

Public Authorities Director Training
Executive-level training in good governance and fiscal oversight practices for members of boards of directors of New York State Public Authorities. This training was developed at the request of and in collaboration with the New York State Commission on Public Authority Reform. Sessions taught by CUNY faculty who are experts in corporate and public sector finance and governance are conducted throughout New York State; participating institutions include the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the Long Island Power Authority, and local industrial development agencies.
