A scholarship is money awarded to you that you do not have to repay. There are countless scholarships that are offered for students to pay for college. The number and criteria vary greatly.
Scholarships Available Within SPS:
SPS is pleased to announce a number of scholarship opportunities available to SPS students. These scholarships provide monetary awards to support the graduate and undergraduate education of SPS students.
Founding Dean’s Scholarship
The CUNY School of Professional Studies
Founding Dean’s Scholarship is open to all applicants enrolled in an SPS degree program on a part- or full-time basis. Scholarships of $500 for part-time students and $1,500 for full-time students will be awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit.
The Bob Martin Memorial Scholarship
The
Bob Martin Memorial Scholarship is open to any applicant with a 2.5 GPA or higher who is enrolled in an SPS Online Baccalaureate program on a part- or full-time basis, and who is within 30 credits of completing the online degree. Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit.
*NEW* The Stephen M. Rossen Memorial Scholarship
The Stephen M. Rossen Memorial Scholarship is open to all SPS online degree students, with preference given to students in the following programs: M.S. in Information Systems; M.A. in Disability Studies; and Online Baccalaureate in Communication and Culture. Applicants must be enrolled on a part- or full-time basis and within 30 credits of completing their degree. This scholarship can only be applied to student tuition costs. A scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded on the basis of need and academic merit.
How to Apply for Scholarships Available Within SPS:
All applicants for CUNY School of Professional Studies Scholarships must complete the
general scholarship application form, where they will complete a 500-word essay describing their educational and career goals and how the scholarship will help achieve these goals, and submit a
FAFSA form. In addition, applicants must request one
letter of recommendation from an instructor or professional colleague.
All materials must be submitted via email to scholarships@sps.cuny.edu no later than April 18, 2012.
