SPS certificate programs and courses are open to individuals who hold a high school diploma (for undergraduate certificates and non-credit courses) or a bachelor's degree (for graduate certificates and courses). Some SPS courses and certificates have specific requirements and pre-requisites. Course descriptions indicate if admission to the course is by special arrangement only. Please take time to review the CUNY School of Professional Studies' admissions policies.
Before applying, an international applicant who wishes to study under an F-1 visa should contact Tom Jennings, Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services, who serves as the international student advisor. He may be reached at 646.664.8501 or email@example.com.
Applicants who will apply for nonimmigrant F-1 or J-1 visas for entry into the United States and applicants already in the United States in F-1 or J-1 student status must complete the International Student Application.
International applicants must have a TOEFL minimum score of 577 on the paper based test, minimum score of 233 on the computer based test (CBT), or a minimum of 90 on the internet based test (IBT). The TOEFL code for the CUNY School of Professional Studies is 4829. For questions about TOEFL requirements, please call 212.652.2869.
Applicants who have completed their previous education in another country must submit official transcripts of their studies, accompanied by certified translations if they are not in English.
Students who do not wish to take a course for credit may audit the course by selecting the audit option. Fees remain the same as credit courses, however. Students who audit will not be evaluated or receive a transcript.
